HOW TO QUESTIONS
Common questions, honest answers.
Real answers to the questions almost everyone asks about how to use your cup or disc.
Will my cup or disc leak?
When correctly positioned and emptied before it becomes full, your cup or disc should provide reliable protection. A few leaks are completely normal while you’re learning and usually mean that your cup hasn’t fully opened, your disc isn’t tucked securely, or it’s simply time to empty it. A little practice makes all the difference.
How long can I wear it?
You can wear your menstrual cup or disc for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow. On heavier days, you may need to empty it more frequently. Once you get to know your flow, you’ll quickly find a routine that works for you.
Will I be able to feel it?
Once correctly positioned, you shouldn’t feel your cup or disc at all. If you notice pressure or discomfort, it may need to be repositioned or you may need a different size. Remove it, take a breath and try again- using it should never feel painful.
Can it get lost or stuck inside me?
No - your cup or disc cannot travel beyond the vaginal canal. If it feels difficult to reach, stay calm, relax your muscles and gently bear down to bring it lower. Pinch the base of a cup to release its seal, or hook a finger beneath the rim of a disc before slowly removing it.
Can I sleep, swim and exercise while wearing it?
Absolutely. A correctly fitted cup or disc is designed to move comfortably with your body, whether you’re sleeping, swimming, exercising or getting on with your day. Empty it beforehand for extra peace of mind and remember not to exceed the recommended 12-hour wear time.
Can I use the bathroom while wearing it?
Yes, you can pee normally while wearing a cup or disc because your urine exits through a separate opening. A bowel movement may occasionally shift its position, so simply check that it still feels secure afterwards.
